Summer Munching Boards

Beat the Heat with Munching Boards
Munching boards are a great way to take advantage of the wonderful variety of summer fruits and vegetables and beat the heat all at the same time.
Munching Board for 4 or 6 (depends on appetites)
- 2 apples cored dipped lightly in lemon juice
- 2 oranges cut into thin wedges
- 2 bananas peeled and cut into 1" rounds and dipped in lemon juice
- 1 green pepper seeded and cut into strips
- 1 red pepper seeded and cut into strips
- 4 stalks of celery cleaned and cut into 2" pieces
- 4 carrots peeled and cut into coins
- 6 mushrooms cleaned and cut into wedges
- 1 cup of broccoli or cauliflower divided into flowerets
- 1 large cucumber washed well and sliced into fingers
- 8 or 10 radishes washed and cleaned and cut in halves
- 2 tomatoes washed and cut into 6 wedges each
- 1 to 2 lbs of your favourite cheese sliced or wedged
- tortilla chips
- sour cream
- salsa
- your favourite commercially prepared dips
- crackers
Arrange the fruit, veggies, cheese and crackers on two large, chilled, platters. Place the salsa, sour cream and dips in chilled bowls. Serve with ice cold glasses of your favourite beverages, napkins and good conversation.
NOTE: It's summer so I indulge in paper plates when we have a board. Just throw it all away when you are done.
Munching Boards were originally served on large wooden boards like a cutting board. I hate having dishes that have limited use so changed to glass platters. They are easier to clean, take up less space and have a wide variety of uses other than a Munching Board.
